SK Broadband Speed Test

This tool helps SK Broadband (SKB) subscribers verify their Giga Internet connection speeds. Whether you are on the 500M Compact plan or the full 1Gbps/2.5Gbps service, accurate testing is crucial to ensure you aren't being throttled.

SK Broadband uses a mix of FTTH (Fiber to the Home) and HFC (Hybrid Fiber Coax). Knowing which technology you have is key to understanding your upload speed results.

Interpreting SK Broadband Results

Download Speed: Should be consistently around 90-100% of your advertised speed (e.g., 450Mbps+ for a 500M plan). If you see exactly 100Mbps, your cable might be damaged (Cat5 limitation).

Upload Speed:
FTTH: Symmetrical (Upload = Download).
HFC: Asymmetrical (Upload is often capped at 10-50 Mbps even on "Giga" download plans).

Ping: SKB offers excellent domestic latency (2-8ms) for gaming (LoL, PUBG). International ping to US West is typically 130-150ms.

SK Giga WiFi Router Login

Unlike other ISPs, SK Broadband routers (Giga WiFi 6 / Wave2) use a unique password mechanism based on the device's MAC address.

SK Admin Details Information
Gateway IP 192.168.35.1 (Most Common)
192.168.55.1 (Older/Alt models)
Default ID admin
Default Password [Last 6 digits of WAN MAC]_admin
Example: If MAC ends in A1B2C3, password is A1B2C3_admin

Login Steps

  1. Look at the bottom sticker of your SK router.
  2. Find the "WAN MAC" address (e.g., 12:34:56:A1:B2:C3).
  3. Write down the last 6 characters (A1B2C3).
  4. Open 192.168.35.1.
  5. User: admin. Password: A1B2C3_admin. (Note: It is case-sensitive!).
  6. Enter the CAPTCHA code shown.

Troubleshooting Lights

Power: Solid green = Normal.

Internet: Solid green = Connected. Red/Blinking = No IP address (Modem/ONT issue).

WiFi (2.4G/5G): Blinking green = Active transfer.

When to Contact SK Support (106)

Dial 106 (SK Broadband Customer Center) if:

The "Internet" light is red.

You moved into a new apartment and need to transfer service.

You need to upgrade from a 100Mbps plan to Giga Internet.

SK Broadband FAQs

Why is my upload speed so slow compared to download? This is the #1 complaint for SK users in older apartments. You are likely connected via HFC (Coax cable) rather than true Fiber. HFC technology limits upload speeds physically. You can ask SK support (106) if FTTH is available in your building, but often it requires building-wide upgrades.

How do I change my WiFi password? Log in to 192.168.35.1. Go to 'Wireless Settings' (Mu-seon-seol-jeong) > 'Security' (Bo-an). Change the 'Shared Key' field.

Why is my connection unstable in the evening? If you are on an HFC connection, bandwidth is shared with your neighbors. Speeds can drop during peak hours (8 PM - 11 PM). Fiber connections are immune to this.

What is 'Giga WiFi Premium'? This is SK's Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) router rental service. It provides faster speeds on newer smartphones (iPhone 12+, Galaxy S20+) compared to the older 'Giga WiFi Wave2' (ac) routers.
