Eolo Speed Test
This diagnostic utility validates the throughput of your Eolo connection. To interpret your results, you must identify which "Wave" technology controls your antenna. Eolo Wave G (100/200/300 Mbps) operates on the 28GHz frequency and requires zero obstructions. Eolo Wave S (30 Mbps) operates on 5GHz and is much more susceptible to interference from trees, weather, and other Wi-Fi networks.
Understanding Your Speed Metrics
When analyzing your connection integrity, focus on these three performance vectors:
Download Throughput:
• Eolo 100/200/300: Speeds are usually stable. You should see ~90% of your profile (e.g., 270 Mbps on a 300 profile). If you see exactly 10 Mbps, your antenna has negotiated at a lower rate due to bad cabling.
• Eolo 30: This is a "Best Effort" technology. Speeds often drop to 10-15 Mbps during the evening (8 PM - 10 PM) due to tower saturation.
Upload Throughput: Eolo uploads are fixed based on your package.
• Eolo più (Standard): ~20 Mbps Upload.
• Packages (Intrattenimento/Studio): Up to 50 Mbps Upload.
If upload is <1 Mbps, your antenna alignment has likely shifted due to wind.
Latency (Jitter): For FWA, Jitter is more important than Ping.
• Good: Ping 15-25ms, Jitter <5ms.
• Bad: Ping 30ms, Jitter >20ms. High jitter causes "rubber banding" in games like Fortnite/FIFA, even if the speed test looks fast.
What Results Should You Expect?
The "Fritz!Box vs. EoloBox" Factor
Eolo supplies premium hardware. Benchmarks include:
AVM Fritz!Box 7530 / 7590: The gold standard. If you have this router, you can access detailed line diagnostics at `http://fritz.box`. Look for the "Link Speed" of the WAN port.
EoloBox (White Router): Proprietary unit. Basic Wi-Fi performance. If you are far from the router, speeds will drop to ~40 Mbps.
Antenna (Parabola): The dish on your roof. It must be powered by a POE Injector (a small black/white brick). If the light on the POE injector is blinking, the cable to the roof is shorting out.
Why Is Your Eolo Connection Slow?
Before calling support (02 3700 851), verify these common installation faults:
Tree Growth: Eolo Wave G needs perfect visibility. If a branch has grown in front of your dish over the last 6 months, your signal quality (SNR) will degrade, causing packet loss.
POE Injector Reset: The antenna contains a computer. If internet hangs, unplug the POE Injector from the wall outlet for 60 seconds. This "Hard Reboots" the roof unit.
Cable Water Damage: If your internet dies every time it rains (but comes back when it dries), the waterproof seal on the connector on your roof has failed.

How to Get an Accurate Test
Wireless testing is unreliable due to the distance between the roof antenna and the router.
To confirm the actual speed delivered by the BTS:
1. Locate the POE Injector (Power Supply for the antenna).
2. Unplug the "LAN" cable from the router and plug it directly into your laptop.
3. You may need to set up a PPPoE dialer on your laptop (Username: W... / Password: ...) to connect.
4. If this direct wired test is fast, the issue is your internal Wi-Fi.
When to Call Support
Escalate the issue to Eolo support if you observe these specific failures:
No Light on POE: The power supply is dead or the roof cable is cut.
Signal < 15dB: If a technician visits, ensure your Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR) is above 15dB. Anything lower will cause dropouts during rain.
BTS Saturation: If speed is perfect at 3 AM but slow at 9 PM, the tower is overloaded. You cannot fix this; Eolo must upgrade the sector.
You can manage your subscription and check tower status via the Area Clienti on the website or by calling 02 3700 851.
